"Dip Flu" is the colloquial name given to is a series of flu-like symptoms, like sneezing and watery eyes that develop for some dip powder users. It's nothing severe, but some individuals experience sensitivity to dip powder, dip liquids, or both.

If the infection spreads to the rest of the body, symptoms may include: Fever, chills. Development of red streaks along the skin. General ill feeling.

The most common cause of paronychia is a staph infection, caused by the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus. Strep bacteria and fungi can cause nail infections as well. The infection itself can occur when the protective barriers around your fingernails or toenails are breached.

If you have a mild acute paronychia, you usually can make the diagnosis yourself. Look for throbbing pain, swelling and redness in an area of damaged skin around a nail. If you are diabetic, have several affected fingers or toes, or have severe symptoms (pus, fever, severe pain), you must be evaluated by a doctor.
